Kayaking Safety
The sport of kayaking has some inherent risks and can be especially dangerous for those with insufficient training and experience. The East Coast Paddlers believe strongly in learning the essential strokes, braces and rolls, as well as rescue techniques, and in helping others to learn. We conduct pool sessions each winter to teach and practice these skills.
While there is no substitute for hands-on learning, between practices check out these safety topics:
- Basic Kayak Equipment
- Protect yourself against hypothermia
